Report from the Zoning
Coordinator
Two new homes will be built
on the corner of Woodland Hills Drive and LaVista
at 1473 LaVista Road. The new homes will be facing
Woodland Hills Drive and have Woodland Hills Drive
addresses of 1453 & 1449 Woodland Hills Drive.
WHNA has a new official
mailing address
PO Box 13124, Atlanta, GA
30324-9998. We took out a 24 hour 7 day a week PO
Box at the Morosgo Drive behind Home Depot.
PayPal coming soon to
our website
People
will be able to join our association or renew their
memberships online – I know it should be there
by now but we wanted to wait for our new mailing address,
now that we have it, it shouldn’t be too much
longer.
Neighborhood Boundaries
It seems there needs to be
some clarification on what the “true boundaries”
are for Woodland Hills to the West. Our neighbors
from the Lindridge Martin Manor neighborhood are asking
us to clarify. It seems that some of our sign toppers
run through streets and areas that are City of Atlanta/Fulton
County and looking at the City of Atlanta NPU-F Map
online
http://www.arch.gatech.edu/~dapa/reports/atlneighchg/page-Images/npuf-m.html
and then looking at the City of Atlanta Zoning Map,
http://www.atlantaga.gov/government/planning/zoning.aspx
we need to partner with Lindridge Martin Manor and
clarify what is Woodland Hills and what is Lindridge
Martin Manor, replace street sign toppers with the
proper neighborhood and move on. It does seem that
the City of Atlanta does consider everything within
Fulton County/City of Atlanta as part of Lindridge
Martin Manor. Meaning Woodland Hills could be considered
anything that is Dekalb County within those streets.
The streets in question are Ogilvie, Argonne, Hampton
Way, Arlington, Concord Drive. I will keep you posted
on what the results are.
Welcome letter
Our Registrar
is going to make a generic welcome letter that we
will put on WHNA stationary and Section VP’s
will deliver these letters to people that recently
move(d) in to our neighborhood. This will let new
members of our neighborhood know that WHNA exists.
Projects the Board agreed
to pursue for our neighborhood
A 4-Way stop sign at the intersection
of Vista Trail and Woodland Hills Drive to help slow
drivers.
Sidewalks on at least on side of the road on Woodland
Ave/Woodland Hills Drive from the Dekalb County Line
to LaVista road. As well as a small strip of sidewalk
in front of house on 1473 LaVista Road to get pedestrians
safely to the cross-walk at Shepherds Lane.
Reasons: More pedestrian friendly access to Briar
Vista Elementary as well as recent retail explosion
on Cheshire Bridge/Piedmont/Sidney Marcus.
WHNA would also like to try
and partner with LaVista Park to get sidewalks on
the South Side of LaVista Road.
Neighborhood Flags to hang
from the front of houses/porches. Much like the flags
you see driving through Inman Park and Oakhurst neighborhoods,
these flags could help raise money for the Association
as well as create neighborhood pride within our community,
as well as give off a sense of organization and communication
among households.
Board also addressed updating
the entrance sign on LaVista Road/Woodland Hills Drive
and getting landscape services donated at that corner.
Board also discussed Woodland
Hills businesses advertising on our website for small
fee.
