I wonder if there would be enough interest in this idea. I see a lot of people hauling bales of pine straw from the nursery centers home in the trunks of thier cars.
What if we organized a Pine Straw Day and hooked up with a local vendor/supplier (landscaper) who would schedule a trailer full of pine straw to be sold in the neighborhood. Almost like a ice cream truck delivery does. We (we association) would notify everyone that on this given Saturday, the Pine Straw delivery truck will be through the neighborhood with bales of pine straw for sale at $xx.xx/bale. As they past your house, you place your order, pay the guy, and unload your bales.
It would cost the neighborhood association nothing. Just the work of an email blast and maybe startup flyers (or the landscaper service/pine straw supplier can do that).
This could even be approached as a fundraiser for the association OR a school/church group.
I think that if it catches on, it could become semi-annual.
The benefits: 1) Households would not have to schlep bales of pine straw from the nursery to thier home. 2) Delivery to your door is much more convenient. 3) More homes would be apt to lay fresh staw as mutch giving the neigborhood a more manicured look.

| I like the idea. Just want to make sure the $ is comparable to other retailers around the neighborhood. Obviously, it will probably be a little more since they are delivering. |

| I like the idea too. We have used a delivery of pine straw the last two years and it was not expensive. I wish I could remember the name, but we have just called when we see the truck driving around town. I think we could get a discount on delivery since it would be one delivery to our neighborhood. |
